A great way of describing image composition, seeing how lighting and how moving around changes things.
Well done Sam, good way to get involved in dad’s photography! Thank you for sharing, Nigel.
5:59 there is a nirnroot in the water straight ahead. Sell it to any any alchemist in Cyrodill.
That takes things to another level , that model was a great visual representation of your point, well made ! Some great tips especially the tripod tip, something i have been guilty of and still do on far to many occasions , top tips !
Great tips Nigel! Loved the model but not sure if it added much. Maybe come back to it and show it more carefully with better light? Still fun though!
This video describes what I was feeling. I really enjoy the 35 and 50mm lenses on my crop sensor camera, wich is about 56-80mm on a full frame in my case. Its much harder to get good compositions on wider angles.
Beginner or seasoned veteran, these are great tips for all landscape photographers. Brilliant idea with the model for a great visual presentation. Plus, I have to say you and your son make Google Earth look like a bunch of amateurs!
Great tips! The light is so important. Make or break that photo!
Great tips – thank you Nigel. Your model of the Langdales would look great on my model railway! Enjoy your birding.
Excellent and informative video. I liked the model too!
Year’s ago we used to call it wasted space !
where are you where do you find these places how do you pay for the trips and how do you find the locations???
Fantastic video! It was both entertaining and educational.
Excellent tips!!!
Thank you!
Really useful tips Nigel! Thanks. Enjoy the 600mm😊
When it comes to wide angle, I think this video is a bit controversial. It amazes me how many new wide to super wide lenses have been introduced lately. Even for my Leica M, I now have a big choice of 24 and 21mm, and lower. Not supported by the viewfinder. Is this the influence of phone cameras?
Where’s a good place to ask photography questions? I’m a beginner with a Canon R8 and I’m photographing hair and while the camera makes the hair look absolutely beautiful, the color isn’t correct. I’ve tried a bunch of settings and trying to learn more, the best “fix” is to shoot in auto focus and press that color wheel at the bottom right of the screen and adjust the tone until its more accurate. Any ideas or websites to learn more? I don’t want to color correct, I just want accurate color right from the start so I can shoot and post the photos.
What program are you using to edit that photo?
My names Andrew and um I need some tips 😂👌
Talk about going the extra mile.. a model, wow! 👍👏
Great tips Nigel which I will try to put into practice. I have a bad habit of shooting a subject (e.g castle or mountain) and not shooting the subject in a scene which then tells a story. Shooting the subject only says that I have visited that subject, if you follow my meaning!
love the model!
Thank you
Excellent reminders all!
Wise words Nigel, excellent tips

I’m old and started taking pictures long before digital was available to the masses 🤣 and when you bought any camera new or second hand, it only came with a 50mm lens, and under 70mm or 80mm everything was prime, as the optics just weren’t good enough on small zooms, so most people only had a 28mm, 50mm and a 70-210 zoom, and if you were posh you had the 35mm and an 85mm prime so you were forced to make the most out of your shot and lens
I love that you said to eat an apple and look around. I used to think I was doing things "wrong" by not setting up my tripod right way. I enjoy walking around and taking shots first. Also, well done to your son for that 3D model. 👏🏻Great tips, thank you!
Thanks for the detailed information.
Nigel, Thank you for your video. May I ask what editing software you are using in it? I looks excellent and easy to use.
Good video with some good examples but I’m not a fan of seeing the images on your iPad..not enough detail. Also as an old film landscape guy, I could crop to almost any size without losing detail but if I take a 24MP image and crop it to 1/4 of the size I get a 6MP image which might be fine for sharing on Facebook but I certainly am not going to print it above 4×6. Now with the image expansion software from Lightroom Classic, On1, and Topaz Gigapixel, I could start by doubling it in size to a 48MP image and the crop would be 12MP. Is my thinking correct?
very helpful.Thank you!
Nice Model! I have mostly watched your channel to become a better photographer with my drone and you have taught me so much! I purchased my first starter camera (Canon EOS 2000D) and I am back for more learning!
YOur work is very nice Nigel.
Always ‘Follow’ the man who takes the time and effort to make a landscape model! 😉
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen for new photogs. I have recommended this to video to those who are beginning. If your are new to photography, watch. You will not be sorry.
This video was worth the watch just to see the model you made! Love that!
Great tips – and I always think of you when I resist settling into a comp as soon as I arrive at a scene – gotta explore first Iike Nigel!!! I can’t believe I won the print!!!! Thank you so much 🙂
mmm
Have a clearly defined subject.
Too often, grand vistas look amazing in person but translate poorly to a two-dimensional photograph.
Thank Nigel, its always a trip listening to you. You are welcome to shoot in Argentina any time you like, I’d love to show you around and shoot together
Come to Golden BC for great outdoor photos
Great tips Nigel which I will try to put into practice. I have a bad habit of shooting a subject (e.g castle or mountain) and not shooting the subject in a scene which then tells a story. Shooting the subject only says that I have visited that subject, if you follow my meaning!
Thank you!
Great video and your work on the model really proved your point.
I find your videos very interesting & helpful, but I think that you, like most other photo guys on you tube are forgetting one thing. A photo is a recording of the scene you are looking at. The artistic side is really important of course but for example, years down the track, the tree image gives no indication of where you were. It is vital in my opinion to record the whole scene in front of you, as well as closer images of particular features.
Great video Nigel… thank you for your time
Sad to see the dead pixel on the iPad
Hey, what app do you use for photo editing?
Love the model! Thanks! 😊
