I love this video! I’m going to be taking classes and you just took a little bit of my anxiety away

  2. @bryantde123 on October 29, 2024 at 9:09 pm

There is so much I agree with in this video. I was trained in a lot of the same ways you are telling everyone. This is such good advice and such a good reminder to keep in mind no matter who you are. I explained the value example from the beginning to so many people and they always say I’m “short selling” when I see it as a resume builder. I’ve shot 100’s of events, but not weddings, I need to be established as a wedding photographer before I can charge what I am worth. This is such a positive and well spoken video

i charged $180 for a family members wedding photoshoot. and she only payed $100. which $180 is extremely cheap. and I gave her 50 photos, and edited all of them, she also loved them and so did her family.

I narrowly pulled off my first wedding last week. Client just left a stellar review today. I thought I was ready for any problem…but I wasn’t.

    1. Unless you absolutely must, avoid silent shutter mode. Nearby LEDs caused slight orange bars/color banding during the ceremony. I was completely unaware that this was a thing. I quickly caught it and was able to correct in post, but I wish I had known about it ahead of time. If you must use silent photography, get a tripod and shoot at 1/00s or under to minimize or avoid banding. When I noticed the orange bars on my ceremony photos while it was occurring I nearly shit myself.

    2. Unless you know your flash supports HSS, make sure to cap your shutter speed with flash at 1/200s. If faster and your flash doesn’t support shutter speeds beyond that, you can get curtain drag where half of the sensor is dark. Happened to me; I quickly switched out the lens to stop the issue.

I was panicked during my shoot but I’m lucky it still turned out okay. Best of luck.

  47. @robbyjai on October 29, 2024 at 10:03 pm

as an experienced wedding photographer who charges $10k+ per wedding these are very good solid advice. I second these advice. Follow it. My only other advice is get to know the couple. Build a bond and a relationship with them. It makes the day more fun and enjoyable and they will appreciate you more. Also keep things simple. Until you have the experience dont try and do fancy stuff. it will fail.

  48. @Princeton_James on October 29, 2024 at 10:04 pm

Ive never shot 1 wedding but i have business experience in other areas. Considering time, gear that youve purchased, post processing, and hours at the wedding. 400 would be my absolute minimum. Yes it does depend on how many hours.

  49. @adriangordon294 on October 29, 2024 at 10:05 pm
