Fine Art Photography CREATE PICTURES THAT SELL
In this video entitled, Fine Art Photography Create Pictures that Sell I create a series of fine-art images that I’m hoping to sell.

Earlier this week I headed down south to capture some fine-art pictures of Dovercourt Lighthouse. To say it was a long day was an understatement. I arrived in time to shoot a sunrise and stayed all day just so I could shoot the lighthouse during sunset. A long day indeed!
I actually created next weeks video during the day while I was there too. It’s a video all about whether we need a 15-stop filter in our bags or not! Look out for that one next week.
The day went really well and I was more than happy with the Fine Art images I captured. As per the norm, there is always something to moan about so here goes mine. It’s a real shame the sky wasn’t brilliant. There were a few clouds but they were so high and very whispy. Whilst this is great for colour it didn’t help me to create long streaky cloudy skies! As much as I’m not normally a huge fan of moving clouds in an image it’s always nice to have the option when you’re there! Moan over 🙂
All the same, I’m very happy with the results, are you?
If you agree with me about my take on what fine-art photography is or not then please let me know in the comments.
Thanks
Gary

Thanks for the great video Gary and when you say its art it really touches heart.
Gary which ND filter suits for this kind of exposure?
Hey Gary. Love the work. Any advantage of square ND filters vs. circular ND filters or vice versa?
Funny, on most vids my faves are yours too….Love fine art photography, beautiful pics!
Hello Gary. This is coming up a lot among photographers on Youtube. I makes me wonder if a lot of photographers don’t really know what art is – and why seek to to have it accepted as being Fine? You shoot monotone and prefer monotone. Nothing wrong with that at all. To say monotone is fine is to suggest the loveliness of colour isn’t fine. Is the preference for monotone a rejection of the real world? After all, we see in colour. Monotone is no more artistic than colour. Art is in the skill – the image is just a reflection of the skill. If a person wants to master the art of monotone then that should be perfectly acceptable and no further explanation is needed. Fine art now means far too many different things to far too many people for it to have any real meaning. The words might be an overhang from the days when photography had to fight for its right to be recognised as an artform. In those days Photographers had to compete with painters who used colour, but for them colour was way too expensive so they attempted to show monotone was a fine art too. Later they complained that colour was glamour and by it wasn’t so fine. So monotone photography as an artform is fine, but the label can also be an excuse to serve inferior works, and it can also serve as an insult to those who prefer the richness of colour.
Great pics love them
Great pictures
You captured some amazing art
Make a video on how you use shutter and aperture to create fine art photos. What tools you use , do you use shutter release or timer to create photos.
Woah, those are beautiful photographs Gary! Absolutely stunning!
Great shots. Love your videos, Gary.
I do believe you need that 15 stop filter. Think about it. You use a 10 stop, add a 3 stop Grad. Then cut more light by going to f/16. You’ve mentioned several times that your rig runs best at f/11.
That tells me that you need a 15 stopper.
You’ve got me planning a 2-1/2 hour trip to what we, in Ohio, call the North Coast. That would be Lake Erie. It has a surf, several miles-long beaches, full size ships, can’t see across it. Looks and acts like an ocean, except it’s fresh water. When the weather is right, there will be warnings. There will be 6 to10 foot swells, or more. I know a few who like going out on that, but not me. I’m a land-lubber.
Keep up the good life, you inspire me.
Charlie
I think what it takes to be considered fine art is having skills and the basics of photography to make great photographs which are fine art. Because photography is a form of art.
Well done! I love your wide angle, blue shot (at 11:50). Beautiful!
Thank you for this inspiring Video. Great Job. Greetings from Germany.
So you can take a picture. Or you can take a photo with long exposures and a filter.
Beautiful shots! Were you using ND filters, a gradient filter, or something else?
Great Video, Gary! Makes me want to try my hand in trying something different. I mainly do Waterfall and Bird Photography. But I think I want to expand my reach a little.
How wel did you perform with sales and where do you sel your art
I found your channel by accident looking to use my ND filters. I’m looking forward to using these techniques around Galveston, TX some 85 miles south.
Excellent job and info!
Your work inspires me. TY
You do not do photographies, yuo made photographic collages, or photo montages or photo illustrations., I’m not critic your work, simply mention you are a liar if you persist in call photograph this kind of work., because is not «a picture“, your work is a series of manipulated pictures electronically to obtain another thing, something that does not exist in real life, beauty? yes! as beautiful as an illustration.
thank you for the video. you have presented a good aspect of fine art photography and made me more familiar with and therefore more attracted to this genre of picturing.
I was just looking at this video on Fine Art and it is something that I have just got interested in.
I have been trying out Woodland forest photography as I live near the New Forest and one thing that makes a world of difference to the image is the type of paper that you print on.
I took a shot of the autumn colours on a damp misty morning and printed on a smooth fine art paper. After watching a video on the subject of woodland photography it was suggested that printing on a textured paper gave a different perspective and after buying some paper and reprinting I found the difference was so much better.
So after all my rambling what sort of paper finish would you recommend for fine art. I know this will depend upon the image but it would be nice to know what sort of paper style you use.
Love the videos by the way
Great video Gary, and wow look at this video taking off! congrats!
I like how you show examples what is considered fine art. Although I think what it makes fine art is having photography skills and the basics in order to create photographs to be considered fine art.
This video inspired me ..well done Gray…🍁🍁🍁

Beautiful work! Thx for sharing.
Art is like a Hero & a Villian, One persons hero is a villian another persons villain is a hero. That’s the beauty of art.
Thank you for those excellent pictures of where I spent my childhood summers…
Beautiful piece of art photography. Amazing long exposure photography.
