my sony zve10’s
jpeg → 10-14mb
raw → 20-23mb
why is that ? compare to your camera your raw files are quite big in size
omg very valuable information! thank you soo muchh!
Thanks for that explanation. Very clear understanding of why I might want RAW.
you da best homie
He’s the goat
I switched back to JPEG, my issue is not having a software to use. I have the R7 canon so the DPP is somewhat of kicking my M1 mac fans to race like crazy. Do you have any suggestion for an free but easy to use program I can explore with? Not ready for a subscription. Please advise.
wow. really showed me i need to shoot raw+jpeg
I always shoot raw + Jpeg which makes viewing photos in the explorer more anoying and bloats photo storage on my drive alot. The thing is other than 10 or so photos ive printed ive never felt the need to edit a photo, mine are usually good enough thanks to canon colours, jpeg processing being good and taking 5-10 photos of the same thing just in case. If i still shot on my fuji which tended to be noisy and soft or my sony which had some of the worst colours id ever seen from a camera Id still do it but im canon only now so im finally just going to go full jpeg and delete my raws or put them on a micro sd for later if i ever want to go back.
I don’t usually edit my pictures so I normally shoot on jpeg, but it really depends on whether Ik I could edit a picture to make it even better but I just do jpeg since I don’t post majority of my photos online to instagram. Mainly post on vsco
That’s exactly what I needed. Thanks for going through it all! So much great info here. Nicely done!
Amazing video! I have been shooting in JPG all the time. It’s time to give RAW a try!
raw dog it
I shoot raw silver gelatin.
Just seeing the highlight adjustment taught me all i need to know. Raw always, no matter what
I have sony a58 and when i use the RAW my max.size pictures only 1920×1080 but JPG format has is 5456×3632. What do you think about it? Maybe I need change something in the setting? Although I didn’t find anything there!
just the video i needed thank you!
Thanks for being useful!
Thank you for posting this. This really helped me🙏🏽
NOW I get it…
Thanks for the simple explanation. I tend to over complicate.
Is there something on your seat?
Need to check if the photo camera supports this format
Thank you for this. I knew that there was a benfeit in shooting raw but I didn’t exactly know why. I"m not a photographer I just like taking pictures. I just got back from a bucket list trip to Alaska and happened to catch the Northern Lights. I got some AMAZING pictures. However, I forgot that I had circular polorizer filter on my lens so I think the pictures aren’t as bright as they could be. Thankfully…I shoot all of my Alakan trip picture in jpg + raw. The only image editing I’ve down is a crop and maybe a little brighten of jgp that’s about it. However, I"m going to get Lightroom and edit once in a life time Northern Light and Glacier pictures so that I can have them printed and hang them in my office. Thank you for this!
Absolutely fabulous 👌🏽! I thought I was going to be lost. This was simple to understand the way you explained it 💯 👏🏽!
You have a new sub.
Thank you🎓
Great video. I do mostly landscape, so RAW handles high contrast better and is much better for tricky light balance. But for my grandkids sports and family stuff i like jpeg better. Spot on exposure fixes all.
APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO! Although I’m basically a JPEG kind of guy, I do see the advantages of shooting RAW…I can do BOTH! 🙂
Amazing Video sir!
Thank you for the information
I just started shooting RAW and when I import my photos to Lightroom, my photos are extremely blurry, but look perfectly fine as a JPEG. What am I doing wrong?
Hey, what other information do i get with raw? I am currently thinking of a "new" typ of lidar technology, where i would need to know the "time" of each pixel of the sensor. Can i get this information with raw? I would want to have a "string" for each pixel, that tells me its intensity over time. so like if i take a "picture! for 1/10 of a second, what i want is a multiple "slices" of the picture. So like what happens in the first 1/1000 of the 1/10 and so on. the more slices i have the more information of depth i would get. (from the time the light took from the cameras flash to get back to the sensor with light speed i can calculate the distance for all the pixels, that are then lit)
Is this something that is possible with the information within raw or would i need to develop custom hardware to get that kind of information from my sensor?
Thanks if someone answers <3
Don’t use the exposure slider to recover lost detail of a JPEG.
Use the sliders underneath, highlights and shadows etc.
Then use a curves layer, you’ll get far better results. Still nowhere near as good as a raw image though.
Wow perfect example 👌
Tip my hat, man. THANKS. I’ve lost sooo many golden hour information 🙁
RAW = needs post editing
Jpeg = Straight out of Camera + upload on social media 😀 😀
RAWMAFIA may replace JPEGMAFIA as the greatest rapper
Why does your raw is not in black and white sir 🤔
I shot in RAW before and couldn’t seem to open the files on the computer. Why would this be? Should there be any difference or issue?
I have for the last 4 years shot in the format JPEG until recently when i discovered RAW. Now i neeeeed to switch it around! Like i have struggled with the details in my photos ever since i bought my camera. This video helped me so much in understanding the difference!! Thank you so much. 🤗
Amazing video
you’re so cool man 🙂
I finally Understand 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 That’s all i needed 😭
Very good, clear explanation. I just got my first camera and have so much to learn.
WOW Thanx
penjelasan yang sangat mengagumkan. kamu membuat perbedaan mereka terlihat sangat jelas. terimakasih 😊
Thank you for explaining "RAW". I had no idea what raw was or how to use it. I am about to buy a Nikon Z6 II, now I might give raw a go and see if I can work it out – with your help and explanations!
this video is 3 years old but still useful. I’ve been on the fence using raw because of the file size and laziness. but, I’m already starting to learn to do videography in raw and might also start photography with raw. I like taking tons of photos that’s why I’m also lazy to edit them. But, guess like you say, you never know when you want to improve more on that one good pics you wanted to save and edit. lol
hi, what program is being used to edit the photos?
So helpful – thank you!
Thank you so much for this quick and helpful video.
Thank you Sir! Fully understood. 👍👍
I think the absolute white balance value is the best thing about RAW for me. Makes it much easier to homogenise white balance over a series of photos (say an event). I know some cameras have a white balance lock but mine doesn’t
