    Sorry, people won’t believe you can get a xt1 for 300? I got a X-T10 in 2021 for 130, and 2 weeks ago a x-t2 for 400

  2. @sammy-qo7oco3 on October 29, 2024 at 9:06 pm

Not actually. There are tons of scams on eBay that sell for very low prices. (Usually no rating new users or hacked users) eBay removes these listings as those users are reported. So you do need to be careful of who you are buying from. Also many low prices sold items have flaws or faults with the item. Now, there are excellent deals you can find from people who do not know the value of their item or those looking for a quick sale. You have to be patient and you do need to look quite often as really good deals go quick in minutes. There is some good advice given here though. Buying in bundles and selling unwanted items and etc. Still, selling is tough for people who have no experience or reviews. EBay fees are high and many pit falls to watch out for when you sell on eBay. MPB and KEH are also good options to look into for buying and selling as well.

The 1 thing not mentioned that plays a huge role in landing the right gear, do not be impulsive. Be patient, if a listing slips buy or your offer is not accepted, don’t get discouraged and don’t ever loose patience and buy the 1st next listing that comes up through FOMO.

There will always be another listing coming up.

There will always be a deal coming up, maybe not as great, but I promise when you land that correct listing, when you get it in hand, the satisfaction will more than make up for the wait.

I spent 3 months waiting for a Nikon D700 at a good price to get listed on eBay. I missed out on a couple beautiful pieces and it all worked out.

I got mine for $500.00 with 3 Nikon batteries, Nikon battery charger, sd & flash card reader, battery grip, Nikon 50mm f/1.4, Sigma Art 24mm f/1.4, and Sigma Art 135mm f/1.8, shutter count just under 55,000 all in near mint and very clean condition.

Have patience and the right listing will fall into your hands.

Im currently looking for a fujica dl-100…..

  6. @zgiggly5266 on October 29, 2024 at 9:09 pm

That is what I find so funny is that people don’t know the difference between the selling price in the sold price the selling price is the asking price that doesn’t mean that you’re gonna get that price you’d be lucky if you got 100% of what you’re asking for especially from camera equipment

  7. @markirwin3624 on October 29, 2024 at 9:10 pm

You know, as a poor boy, I really should remember how damn useful buying used is 😂

  8. @uskyen7025 on October 29, 2024 at 9:10 pm

Unfortunately, my budget only got me a panasonic dmc-fz20.
    It does work.
The quality is good. It does struggle with shutter speed and does not take long exposures.
    The o.i.s. works surprisingly well.
The iso only goes up to 400, which is a bit of a shame.
I am currently trying to buy a telelens conversion for it, but it’s kind of expensive for a teenager to buy.
I am into horse photography and horse jumping photography.
This is my setup. If you know of a slightly better model that fixes the issues that I mentioned above but is still old enough to not empty my wallet, share your thoughts.

  9. @buggersofoz on October 29, 2024 at 9:11 pm

Brilliant video! Had a few good catches recently. I still have a GH5 to sell, but after selling 2 lenses and a gimball that came with it, I’m juat AUD140 from breaking even. And am keeping a gorilla pod, 128GB SD card, PD strap… An then I bought a 5D2 last week with 2 L lenses, grip, 2 genuine batteries for the price of just one of these L lenses. The camera has an insanely low SC of 5300! And it looks brand new, as do the lenses. Cheap L lenses are usually beat up workhorses even if they are optically perfect. I’ll probably keep the longer lens and try to fund it with other items. Also bought a Sigma 150-500mm lens within 10 minutes of liating for $200 below the lowest ever price….One thing you didn’t mention about selling is to sell in pieces and be patient. To get the market peice you have to set a fair, but high price, auction end to most popular time of week and wait for a week with little or no crazy deals like you described.

  10. @jay-jm9us on October 29, 2024 at 9:12 pm

ebay pushes the prices up, fb people watch yt videos like this that pushes up the price So I chose to go to mpb just to not have to deal with the bs and scams that comes frome fb and cl also ebay. No part time income will ever vcome from this Guy just talking for views

  11. @khangthai4479 on October 29, 2024 at 9:12 pm

For me i go back to Vietnam in vacation and got my XT1, in country like Vietnam the camera usually expensive so they really carefull with it( they even keep the original box) , thanks to that I got a good condition XT1 GSE with only 1 scratch at the bottom for 325$ and the battery grip for 15$.

  12. @HuaweiP-yn2bw on October 29, 2024 at 9:13 pm

In Russia I could buy xt-1 for $300 easy, but unfortunatelly at this moment I could not list it on ebay and get a money for it with paypal.

  13. @scotthansenmtbt4110 on October 29, 2024 at 9:13 pm

I do the same thing with camera gear….sometimes great gear gets no bids, and I snag it at the last second…doesn’t always work, but sometimes it does….also find bulk camera gear packages, where I want some of the gear….I bought a like new Olympus with 3 lenses, extra batteries, leather cases, all the extra bells and whistles for under $200, from South Korea, and received it in 3 days…..you are right on sir!

I got my first Fujifilm for US $248.50, it was a X-T1. Altough it was almost 2 years ago.

  16. @otter-pro on October 29, 2024 at 9:20 pm

I used this technique when I bought my canon EOS-M with 22mm lens combo for $200 few years ago from Ebay, and I could’ve sold the lens to cover for price. (I really wanted to try Magic Lantern). I think I can resell it now and still make profit, if I really wanted to.

  17. @TheReelport on October 29, 2024 at 9:20 pm

Another way of checking the market prices is mpb

  18. @jonmaat882 on October 29, 2024 at 9:25 pm

6 mos ago I got an x-t3 and the 18-55 f2.8-4 from a pawn shop for $450. Sold both of the items separately and made $600 profit

  19. @GeoffCooper on October 29, 2024 at 9:25 pm

Really interesting video – I do a lot of buying bundles and selliing off what I don’t want so it’s cool to see others do this too 🙂
The point at 2:57 about eBay removing ‘outliers’ is incredibly interesting – I was looking for a certain lens last year and I saw two go through eBay (before I had the funds to bid) and they were in the sold items a few days later.. But then a month later when I wanted to check something, no amount of searching could find those sales and I was very confused!

  20. @TheAbsinthomane on October 29, 2024 at 9:25 pm

I bought my X-T1 two weeks ago for $199 mint and CiB. What a awesome Camera, thanks for the tip.

  21. @TurboNorm on October 29, 2024 at 9:28 pm

Love the e-bay tips and tricks. And Marketplace. I just may have too give it a try.

  22. @swissgamer1988 on October 29, 2024 at 9:28 pm

I personally wouldn’t buy used gear as you never know if there is an issue and a camera shouldn’t be older than lets say 4 years.. The x T1 was released 2014. Cameras will also get on sale so you will get good discount. Keep an eye open for sales. Got a 2000 dollar camera for 999 on sale.

  23. @jdburke54 on October 29, 2024 at 9:30 pm

Well, I wasn’t skeptical, but I didn’t think this would work well in my location. Wrong! If it all works out, I’ll have several thousand $$$ oh gear in hand at bargain prices. Thank you, Mark. Even if it doesn’t work out, I’m having a good time. And I’m sure some of it will be in hand in two days.

  24. @jlaw8882 on October 29, 2024 at 9:31 pm

Ebay sellers also put items for sale at crazy prices that never sell and just rotate on auction &/ buy now. They never intend on selling it, it’s there just to pump the price and make their other items look cheap.

got my xt1 for 250$ at a camera store used on offer up people wanted 500-380$ some used market areas are bad it was backwards for the Lumix gx85 in the store 800$ used on offer up 450$

  28. @big_boy6209 on October 29, 2024 at 9:32 pm

I wanted to see if that ebay method worked and I saw that two people purchased a rf 70-200 f2.8 L for under $700. my heart literally stopped for a good minute 💀

  29. @breathLP on October 29, 2024 at 9:35 pm

I can vouch for the email alert feature for ebay searches to get notity when new items are listed. This way I was able to buy a 200-250€ 4K UHD BD Player for 28€.

  30. @Nathansmithphotography on October 29, 2024 at 9:35 pm

I’ve used all these techniques. The only thing I would add is that lately I do 90% of my buying and selling on Facebook marketplace because the seller doesn’t pay eBay fees, which benefits both buyer and seller. Great tips!

  33. @CSK534 on October 29, 2024 at 9:39 pm

I started off with a xt-200 which i bought for 550 AUD, then sold it for 900. Used the money to buy a viltrox 85mm 1.8 for 350, and bought an XT3 for 1.1k AUD. I sold the 85 1.8 for 420. Then i got an xt1 with battery grip, and a metal grip for 400, which i tried and sold later for 620. Then when an ad popped up, i bought an 18-55mm new for 250 from an electronics store that was trying to get rid of it on clearance. Then i tried the lens and sold it for 450. I then started scanning marketplace everyday for deals, and found an xt1, 18-55, and 18mm f2 for 350 aud. the xt1’s skin was coming apart so i decided to wait for a bit before i sold it. I then picked up a x-pro-1 with 23mm f2 for 600 aud, and also an X-E2 with a broken pin adapter which is easily fixable for 220. I’ve sent the cameras to be officially repaired by fujifilm and they charged me around 300 for everything including labour. I have also picked up a DJI mavic air 2 flymore for 300 aud, viltrox 27mm f1.2 for 550, and viltrox 75mm f1.2 for 500. My goal is to sell everything, except the viltrox lenses and fund an xt5 or an xh2s. The reason why i got such great deals was because i knew if they were in a rush to sell or not. Most of the times, people were moving countries, so they had to sell it urgently. Although i clicked on this video thinking it’s some bs, i’ve actually done this and its a great way to work up to a camera, as you get to try different lenses, camera bodies, and sensors. It’s really rewarding when you finally get what you worked for. All of my trades were in Marketplace.

  34. @miniaturelabyrinth7765 on October 29, 2024 at 9:41 pm

Bought my Xpro2 with 2 500€ lenses for around 1400, The house itself is worth that much.

  35. @AlecBuxton-w5r on October 29, 2024 at 9:42 pm

The price you pay for a second hand camera depends on where you look because a specialist will likely charge you as much as they can but a general second hand store who just want to sell it but not try and get a peak price for the item

  36. @kws4e on October 29, 2024 at 9:44 pm

I bought a 5D MK II with a Canon 24-105 F/4 L IS and a 50mm 1.8 for 200€. The 24-105 had a big Scratch in the front which didn’t affected the image quality, so I did sell it at 200€. So the 5D MKII with the 50mm 1.8 ended up being "free"

  37. @mixedfootage8010 on October 29, 2024 at 9:47 pm

my xt1 was 300 with a (manual) lens and a third party battery grip. sold the lens for ~100 bucks. this was march 2023.

  38. @towmlvb3423 on October 29, 2024 at 9:48 pm

Sadly, since this very good video was uploaded hordes of newly-educated photography fans will have taken the advice and gone off to buy as advised… …and the prices available to the people most recently informed here will have shot up… I ran out of room and cash for more kit long ago and bewailed my misery. Now I do not feel at all deprived…

  39. @EverythingCameFromNothing on October 29, 2024 at 9:48 pm

  45. @MrsMysteryWoman on October 29, 2024 at 9:51 pm

I do this while selling things on eBay to get a more realistic idea of what I can expect to sell things for. I never considered doing this when purchasing!

I’ve been having a heck of a time trying to find an XT 1, 2 or 3 for anywhere near the prices that I’ve heard people saying they can get them for. The XT1s I’ve been looking at are all well over $500 with a few “poor condition/heavily used“ cameras for around 350 to 400.

The one XT3 I found for around 550 that seemed to be in excellent condition and was also the graphite color. I ended up bidding on it and winning, but then they canceled the auction immediately after. I’ve been pretty convinced this whole time that the prices have skyrocketed on Fuji because of their recent trendiness. It’s been really bothering me, so I’m glad to hear this new tip. I will try it out right now! Same thing with lenses too. I hear people saying “lens is amazing” then when I go to try and purchase one I can’t find one for less than $250. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤯🙄

  46. @Meth0z on October 29, 2024 at 9:55 pm

Ebay is a risky gold mine.. i got a Nikon D800, with tamron 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8, and a Nikon SB-900 inside a pelican case.. and won the auction for 600$ lol.. pawnshop also often accept offers lower than their listing prices if they had the item for too long..

Not long ago i was saving to buy another Nikon D800 but with a Nikon 24-70mm f2.8G and a Nikon 105mm f2.8G micro VR lens with SB-800 flash, and a backpack.. for 900$ but someone else beat me to it..

  47. @DJ.1001 on October 29, 2024 at 9:56 pm

For the last few years ive owned 3 canon m50s with various lenses. All 3.kf them I bought on the low from ebay and then traded in to mpb for pretty mich what I paid for them. I am essentially renting the gear for trips at little to no cost

  48. @dallinski on October 29, 2024 at 9:59 pm

I used to do this all the time. Between 2014~2018, I would regularly find great deals. However, in the last few years it’s gotten a lot harder to find good deals.

  49. @AnotherAyushRaj on October 29, 2024 at 10:00 pm

Things I hate about me not living in the west. The used equipment market is wild there.

  50. @boatman222345 on October 29, 2024 at 10:01 pm

Beware of eBay! People tend to automatically assume is cheapest and in my experience they are actually more expensive. The other thing to factor in is that buying on eBay you are at risk when it comes to faulty gear that has something wrong with it. Camera repair these days tends to be hideously expensive. Some online repair shops have a "minimum" repair charge of $300! Most online used camera dealers offer at least a 90 day guarantee and some go as high as 6 months.
