Magnificent!
wow so cool love this place n ur pics
At 3:44, the shape of the rock on your right shoulder looks like a face of a monkey. Very interesting!
Where are you? Is that Joshua Tree?
Astounding work! I lived less than 2 hours from there and hiked, & photographed AZ for 18 years. But that was back in the ’70s. I never knew it existed until now. Thank you for a mental kick to the backside.
I like this video, clear and useful
Love your soundtrack. Check AES Dana & Carbon Based Lifeforms
What camera and lens you have used to record this vlog? pl tell me!
This style of videos is so good. Simple, straightforward, helpful. You’re easy to listen to, that’s a big one for me, I get irritated at people’s voices haha
These photos DO look like another planet, very well done
Awesome to see this day documented through your eyes my friend! Really enjoyed being out there with ya!
Why do you shoot Iso 500? It is not necessary to have a fast shutter speed in wide angle… 1/30 would be enought. At F16 You start too lose detail because of diffraction. I really don’t understand your settings.
I really like that point that you made at the end of the video. Great stuff!
Composition is the thing I struggle the most. I really loved this vlog. Congratulations
It’s like another planet!
I want to start photographing landscapes and specialize in lunar photos and maybe over time astrophotography which camera would be good to start with? thanks
Hi Michael, I am going to Las Vegas / Death Valley in upcoming week and was looking into many of your videos. What location is this where you are able to drone? As a national park, Death Valley doesnt allow to drone without permission
love it
Amazing content Michael.. did you use a CPL filter for those photos?
Your photos were fine the only thing missing was…… SUN!!!! I saw it was an overcast day. Go back and takes those same photos early in the morning and late in the afternoon and see the difference. I did like the one with the dark clouds. Was that done with two separate photos or was it done in Photoshop.
dude, it’s one of the best youtube lessons on photography I’ve ever seen. And it’s mostly because of the pace you have here, the atmosphere, the music, the attitude. I can feel how you love photography and how you love to tell your story about it and how amazed you are by it.
I subscribed.
I loved the highlights on the rocks against the blue sky. And that lone tree at the end was epic minimalistic. Nice mixture of abstract and landscape.
This is a beautiful location and amazing photos!! I know you said you’re in the southwest but where are you exactly?
What is your location ? I love this landscape I need to put this on my bucket list 😊
The music editing really lifted this video. Great stuff Michael.
Great video, Michael. It like the reminder to look at the world around us differently. To see something else. I agree with you, I’m not super technical with photography either. I would rather focus on the picture taking rather than the technicalities which just kills my creativity. Thanks for the reminder. To each to their own. Folks should just do what works for them. There is no one right way to photograph.
You can see things you can’t photograph, and photograph things you can’t see.
Stunning ! Thank you for sharing
Amazing compositions, lucky be in that place limitless possibilities, thanks for sharing your stories and passion for photography!

Ken Rockwell had one of the best pages on photography that I’ve ever seen. He had an acronym F. A. R. T. The F stands for feel. So when you’re walking past some thing, you feel something the A stands for analyze what is it about this scene that caught your attention The R stands for refined the composition kind of like what you said. the T is when you take the image. So whenever I’m out taking pictures, I’m always thinking about farts.
Check out my new blog post for all of these images in higher quality and a bunch of useful tips for capturing abstract photography!

Been down South West snd sleays skipped that location simply because its tricky to get to, guess third time I just have to.
What music are you using in this point: 9:00?
Magical place, amazing pictures !!!!!
That’s it! Your wonderful video pushed me over the edge. I’m getting a drone! I’ve photographer this location 6 times in the last four years and am going back again in September. Your drone shots were spectacular! Thanks for sharing your thought process and the resulting photos.
Thanks..
Such beauty…speechless
I believe the location of this photoshoot is kept top secret by the National Park Service. Access is only by lottery to reduce erosion and damage to the delicate rock formations. It is within the Grand Staircase Escalante. It is almost impossible to take a bad landscape photograph here.
Ohhhhh white pocket is gorgeous!!! So alien yet mesmerizing! I was lucky enough to be there right after a storm so I got some shots with pools of water in those amazing little divots and crevices. That tree in the middle of rock was stunning. We were also there while a storm came rumbling in. I captured a shot with the bright beautiful sun on the left of one of those peaks with the storm coming in from the right. I got the shot and then got dumped on. But it was totally worth it!!
I follow you on Instagram and just found this YouTube channel. I am so happy to learn how you compose and take images! Thanks for sharing and teaching. You are an amazing photographer!
Can I just say, I really appreciate the choice in music for this vlog. Absolutely perfect 👌
How do you make money with those photographs?
Your photography is amazing and your tutorials are so helpful and interesting.
Your last two vlogs have been awesome Michael. Crazy landscapes combined with great tips, insight, and wonderful sound tracks that mathced up well with the vibe of the places you visited.
I don’t often comment on videos, but just have to say how mesmorising that drone imagery was! it was like looking at something from NASA! An absolutely amazing landscape, and perfectly captured!
I’m curious where you flew your drone… spectacular
You missed what could have been some amazing images of the vegetation growing out of the beautiful rocks area at 5:00 minutes? Great video, beautiful shots…. thanks!
Wow! I’m sure glad I don’t have to cull your images!
Yo, 24p is awful on youtube because most screens refresh at multiples of 30. There are jitters every couple of frames unless I manually tweak the speed to 1.25x 🙁
Hi Michael, this is the first time that I have found you’re channel and I am amazed by it. I have a small (growing) channel myself but this is next level. Would love to grt to that location someday. At 8:56 in the video there is a small lake on tip of these white rocks did you get a shot of that with the drone? Looks fantastic. You definitely have a new subscriber. Do you mind sharing where this is? I would thibk valley of fire but since I’m from the netherlands I don’t know all the spots of course. Grt guido
