Great video man ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ Tell me if Iโ€™m wrong but thereโ€™s one more thing that affects the depth of field and thatโ€™s the focal length from the objective right?

  7. @p3rrypm on October 29, 2024 at 9:11 pm

    Wow, still missing information. ๐Ÿ˜

  8. @kabish0603 on October 29, 2024 at 9:11 pm

I just turn my phone to Live Focus and get amazing depth of field shots ๐Ÿ˜‰ Actually love that feature of the Samsung phones.

Can u please do a review on the gopro 8 vlogging set up

  14. @JeahnLaffitteAdventures on October 29, 2024 at 9:20 pm

Donโ€™t forget sensor size! ๐Ÿ˜€ The bigger the sensor, the larger the circles of confusion. Not sure if it actually changes the depth of field, but them circles are bigger for sure

  15. @daxfinch3126 on October 29, 2024 at 9:25 pm

No matter the topic or if it has use to me, I love the videos, keep it up ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป excited to see what your produce this year !

  20. @ajsmen on October 29, 2024 at 9:33 pm

Happy New Year man! Love the channel, especially the tips and reviews videos, great stuff. I think it would help if you use more photo/video material as presentation even during your explanations though. Regardless, a big like for this video and can’t wait for more videos! Cheers from Slovenia

  21. @MadeByFrance on October 29, 2024 at 9:33 pm

Can you apply this to a video with a GoPro Hero 9?

  22. @HajongLee on October 29, 2024 at 9:34 pm

Could you please do a video on how to color grade your GoPro footage on FCPX? I use your recommended settings but I would love to learn how you color grade after putting GoPro settings on like "Flat" for Color and "Native" for WB.

  23. @Hcavagnaro on October 29, 2024 at 9:38 pm

Love how you explained this! Also, I think focal length would be important to bring up, compression gives the look of more or less DOF, right?

  24. @Baziinga90 on October 29, 2024 at 9:39 pm

Love it that you’re back! Happy New Year! Wish you a great new decade haha ๐Ÿ˜‰

Is that the Sony A7RIII or IV? Would love to hear your opinion on it and also if you have some experience with the A6400/A6600? Want to get myself a new camera, still shooting on my good old Nikon D300 (I love it, but a 13yr old camera is showing its lack of tech) and i would like to be able to film with the camera as well.

    Cheers!!

  25. @hcp0scratch on October 29, 2024 at 9:40 pm

Well explained…but perhaps include FOCAL LENGTH
"Three main factors that will affect how you control the depth of field of your images are: aperture (f-stop), distance from the subject to the camera, and focal length of the lens on your camera."

  26. @jimmyhidalgo2680 on October 29, 2024 at 9:42 pm

You ruined it! Whyyy!! I didnt want to know its not a new decade! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  27. @leo-hao on October 29, 2024 at 9:43 pm

It feels like a new decade because the ten-digit changes. And time is subjective so if people think it’s a new decade it is a new decade. Technicality doesn’t matter as much.

  28. @gabrieldg on October 29, 2024 at 9:44 pm

Hey David, I’m a beginner, absolute complete freshie when it comes to photography/cameras/lenses. I”ve got a Nikon D90 (I know it’s an oldie) with an 18-55mm. Bit of a stupid question, but I can’t get lower than F3.5 trying to get that nice shallow depth of field. Would I need to purchase another lens kit to achieve this?

  29. @HawkesVids on October 29, 2024 at 9:45 pm

Happy New Year David and Welcome Back

  30. @JoelDino on October 29, 2024 at 9:47 pm

You are absolutely right, the new decade starts 2021.

  31. @raphi1294 on October 29, 2024 at 9:48 pm

    Aperture, distance And focal length

  32. @TheDoV17 on October 29, 2024 at 9:48 pm

It also works on how far/near your subject is to the background. The more you get the subject away from the background the more bouquet effect you’ll get.

  33. @RobSambles on October 29, 2024 at 9:48 pm

    It’s gotta be focal length!

  34. @NatesEscape on October 29, 2024 at 9:49 pm

    We missed you! ๐Ÿ˜โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿค™
    Happy new year!

  35. @alexandergavrilov2566 on October 29, 2024 at 9:49 pm

Great tip, thank you! Here’s a suggestion for another tip – how does focal length of your lens affect the depth of field? It obviously affects field of view, but what about depth of field? E.g. if you are 2 feet away and you shoot something with a 24mm lens at F4.0 and 85mm lens at F4.0, how is depth of field going to differ? Or is it not, just the field of view?

  36. @luk3.47b8 on October 29, 2024 at 9:50 pm

The years 2021 and a virus hits millions…definitely a good decade which is upcoming. (Bad sarcasm)

  37. @Creative7inc on October 29, 2024 at 9:51 pm

Probably on of the most effective representations of this I’ve seen on YouTube, keep it up man!

  38. @_gpop on October 29, 2024 at 9:51 pm

    Good reminder

  39. @peterbrown2208 on October 29, 2024 at 9:52 pm

Happy New Year David. I am curious, what does the depth of field look like if you enlarge the skittles in the distant-image to the same size they are in the close-up image??? Is it the same?????

  40. @longboardluv2 on October 29, 2024 at 9:52 pm

Good stuff! Say hi to your beautiful wife for me
